What to Expect on Sunday Morning
If you arrive by car you can park anywhere along Main Street or Morgan Street. On Sunday there is parking on both sides and at the M&T Bank parking lot.
When you enter from the Morgan Street doors you will be greeted and given a program of the day's worship service and upcoming events. Please take a moment to fill out a Welcome Card and let us know you are visiting with us.
Our worship services begin at 8:30 a.m. and at 10:30 a.m. (one service only at 9:30 a.m. in the summer). Each service includes a practical Bible-based sermon, hymns to sing, prayers and responses, which we read together out of the printed program, a time for prayer, and organ music. Our 10:30 service, which is more heavily attended, also includes a children's sermon and a choir anthem.
Infants and children are always welcome to worship with us but loving childcare is also provided in our second floor nursery room during the 10:30 am service. During the 10:30 am service, all children begin worship with us until after the children's sermon, when they are dismissed to go upstairs for Sunday school.
Our worship space is formal and comfortable. Some of us choose to dress informally for worship and others like to wear their "Sunday Best." Please wear what will be most comfortable for you.
We have an excellent sound system and hearing aid devices for those who have hearing issues. The 8:30 am service lasts about 45 minutes and the 10:30 am service lasts about an hour. When we celebrate Communion the first Sunday of the month, you are welcome to participate, as a baptized follower of Jesus Christ. Communion is served in the pews.
There is an adult Bible study at 9:30 am in McDermott Hall, and all are invited to this discussion based class.
You are invited to join us in the Fellowship Hall on the first floor after either service for a time of coffee, pastries, and fellowship. Please feel free to introduce yourself to the pastors during this time.
There are a variety of colorful brochures by the entrances that explain the programs and ministries of Salem as well as booklets to support families in their journey of faith. Please help yourself.
